A U.S. healthcare technology company delivering clinical data analytics and data-driven insights for providers and hospitals came to Armakuni for full-stack cloud migration: infrastructure, multi-account ECS and database migration, and analytics stack modernization from Snowflake and Sisense to open-source PostgreSQL and Apache Superset.

The challenge

A single AWS MAP-funded infrastructure migration grew into four SOWs. Armakuni won on HIPAA compliance credibility and a zero-downtime commitment, then expanded from the infrastructure layer into the data pipeline and the analytics layer of the business.

Scale: Platform serving providers and hospitals across the U.S. with 200 embedded analytics dashboards serving 300-400 users, processing approximately 50 GB of clinical data per week.

What we built

Armakuni delivered full-stack cloud migration: infrastructure, multi-account ECS and database migration, and analytics stack modernization from Snowflake and Sisense to open-source PostgreSQL and Apache Superset. The engagement ran as four SOWs: MAP Mobilize SOW (infrastructure migration to AWS); DevOps Care POD SOW (ClearData to Cloud DTC multi-account migration); RDS PostgreSQL and Superset POC SOW; Snowflake and Sisense Migration SOW (Flexible Engineering POD). AWS funded the work at $22,700.

The outcomes

7 measurable outcomes shipped across the engagement. The ones that moved the business the most:

$22,700
in AWS MAP funding covered the entire Phase 1 infrastructure migration.
$0
cost to Chordline for the Phase 3 analytics proof of concept.
Zero
downtime across the ClearData account migration.
$25,200
in total AWS co-investment across Phase 1 and Phase 3.

In eight weeks, Chordline went from depending on a vendor-managed data center to owning and governing its infrastructure on AWS.. A migration that had to run across two live AWS accounts without touching clinical data delivery was completed without a single missed pipeline. The analytics stack that ran on expensive proprietary tools is being replaced by one Chordline owns outright.

$22,700 in AWS MAP funding covered the entire Phase 1 infrastructure migration. Eight weeks of work to move a healthcare platform from a third-party data center into a fully governed, HIPAA-aligned AWS environment. Chordline's out-of-pocket cost was zero.

$0 cost to Chordline for the Phase 3 analytics proof of concept. AWS contributed $2,500 toward the infrastructure. Chordline proved that PostgreSQL could handle the data volume, Superset could reproduce the dashboards, and the SaaS embedding would work, all before committing a dollar to the full Phase 4 migration.

Zero downtime across the ClearData account migration. 25 ECS clusters and two production MySQL clusters hosting 15-20 databases moved between AWS accounts without interrupting a single clinical data pipeline, without changing a DNS record from the client's perspective, and without missing a contractual minimum payment to ClearData.

Snowflake and Sisense licensing eliminated once Phase 4 completes.. The per-seat, per-tier licensing model that grew with every new user is being replaced by open-source infrastructure Chordline controls. 800 GB of data and 200 dashboards move to a stack with no ongoing licensing obligations.

Chordline sees its own infrastructure for the first time.. CloudTrail, Security Hub, GuardDuty, Config, Secrets Manager, and VPC Flow Logs now run natively across the full environment. Every API call is logged. Every configuration change is tracked. Every threat surfaces in real time. That visibility belongs to Chordline permanently.

$25,200 in total AWS co-investment across Phase 1 and Phase 3. $22,700 for the infrastructure migration and $2,500 for the analytics proof of concept. Both phases ran at zero cost to Chordline. The POC validated the open-source analytics case before Chordline committed to the Phase 4 investment.

What's next

Full completion of Phase 4: 200 dashboards and 800 GB data warehouse fully operational on the open-source stack, all proprietary licensing eliminated.
